The best places to visit in Jordan:

I've been here for a couple of months already. I got a job as an expat with a French company here. There are a lot of historical places in Jordan, but the place that caught my attention is "petra." Even thought it's not accessible by car, you can hire mules to go there (around the mountain). It's about 3 hours from Aqaba, which is a holiday resort where you can find a lot of Europeans.

Jerash and the dead sea (for good spa) are good places to go as well. In the capital, Amman, night life is nice. Restaurants are also good. Off the top of my head: Centro, Romero, and the best Arabic food is in Fakhr Aldeen and Huwara restaurants...

If you want to have a great experience, try to get a good English Speaking guide, and you will be happy. Do not go to the tour operators, as they will rip you off!!
